Cathedral Education Center
The Cathedral Education Center, located in Harrisburg, PA, was the conception of the Cathedral Parish of Saint Patrick to improve the educational experience of their students. By renovating and combining the existing Harrisburg Catholic Elementary School, built in 1951, and the Shanahan Center, built in 1910, the goal of this project is to improve the overall use of space and broaden the curriculum. The $5.7M project is proceeding in three phases. Previously connected by a pathway between the two buildings, the existing structures were combined in the first phase with a 3,250-square-foot addition, creating a new entryway and elevator for students and staff. The second phase will rejuvenate the Shanahan Center by constructing new classrooms, laboratory space, and dining space. The final phase will renovate the existing Harrisburg Catholic Elementary School.
As a subconsultant to C.F. Acri & Son Inc. and the JEM Group, Isett provided Mechanical/Electrical/Plumbing (MEP) engineering as well as Construction Materials Testing & Special Inspection services thus far in the project’s progression. Upon the completion of this project, the School will feature ten new classrooms, art & music facilities, a robust STEM laboratory (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics), and a 26,000-square-foot dining hall.
