The Pennsylvania Public School Facility Improvement Grant Program is designed to offer grant funding to public school districts and career and technical education (CTE) centers across the state for qualifying facility enhancement endeavors. Enacted into law on December 13, 2023, under Act 34 of 2023 by Governor Josh Shapiro, this initiative will be overseen by the Department of Community and Economic Development. Its primary aim is to allocate funds towards urgent requirements within the state’s public school system and essential upgrades to building infrastructure.
Program Details:
- Eligible projects include:
- Roof repairs/replacements
- HVAC equipment and plumbing system upgrades
- Energy savings
- Health and safety upgrades
- Accessibility upgrades and improvements
- Demolition
- Emergencies
- Technology upgrades
- Eligible costs include:
- Engineering and design; environmental assessments; construction and renovation; purchase and installation of equipment; and demolition.
- Matching funds:
- 75% grant request for eligible project costs with a required 25% cash match. Please note: there are exceptions in case the case of financial status or emergencies.
- Applications:
- Applications will be received from March 1, 2024 through May 31, 2024. Application for assistance can be found at dced.pa.gov/singleapp.
