A few members of the Capital Region team volunteered to pick up litter at the Wildwood Park in Harrisburg, PA. Home to Wildwood park is the Olewine Nature Center, constructed in 1999 by Benjamin Olewine III. The center is dedicated to educating students, families, and local residents on the importance of conservation and gives those an opportunity to experience the wildlife of freshwater wetlands, they may otherwise never see.
The team focused on cleaning up pathways overlooking the wet woodland and marshes home to wetland birds, turtles, and other small creatures. The team was able to pick up a combined 60 lbs. of trash from the pathways, with Martha Quinto in first place with the heaviest bag of trash weighing in at 13 lbs!
